We know something Mockingjay Part 2 related is coming this Thursday night with the release of Insurgent. And we’re excited. Truly, we are! But we need to drop some truth bombs on y’all.
YOU NEED TO MANAGE YOUR EXPECTATIONS, PEOPLE!
Yes, the :44 reveal has a name, “Remember”. But that doesn’t mean it’s more than a logo reveal. Mainly because the motion poster logo reveal always comes first and we haven’t had one yet. And ya know, it says LOGO right in the title.
Thinking 44 seconds is a little long for just the motion poster? FALSE. In fact, the Mockingjay Part 1 motion poster and title treatment was over a minute long! Remember, these motion posters cycle through the Mockingjay “pins” for all the films.
And who knows what “Remember” could mean? It could be part of a teaser tagline. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get a voice-over quote. THOSE THINGS WOULD BE COOL! But do we consider either option a significant enough development that we’re going to explode all over the Internet?
Many of us already learned the hard way from Mockingjay Part 1 promotion, which started to feel like Lionsgate metaphorically cockblocking fans from their movie obsession after a while. This is mainly aimed toward to folks who actually think they’re going to get a mini-teaser this early. You are aiming WAY TOO HIGH, darlings! We just don’t want you to get hurt!
So take those loving expectations, hold them tight, and save them for another day. If we’ve been epically punk’d and this turns out to be some teaser, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised! But we kinda have a feeling you won’t be. Just sayin’!
If LG is playing it smart, we should get something more substantial with The Avengers: Age of Ultron in May. So hold tight, kiddos!
That’s ONLY If They’re Playing It Smart, Too…
